My activity for
Encrypt the message STOP POLLUTION
f(p)= (p+4) mod 26
The way you solve this problem is by translating the letters into numbers, applying the given encryption function, and then translating the numbers back into letters. This was something that I learned for my Discrete Mathematics course. When the activity said that it wanted us to do something with remixing, I felt that this would be a good example for dealing with remixing things. This question requires you to encrypt a message using a formula. when you use the formula to encrypt a message, When you encrypt the message, it mixes the letters so that the message is unreadable to people who do not have the key formula.
If felt that solving this question was easy in a sense, but still took some effort to solve the problem. The answer came out as what I would expected because well….it was just encrypting a message… I didn’t have anything else that I wanted to do for the activity, so I choice encrypting messaging as a remix because I think it is fun.
The Internet is a very powerful place and a very important tool to have. It has almost every information throughout the world and is acceptable to anyone. On the other hand, it is also filled with dangerous people and information. For copyrights, I believe that it is okay the way it is right now. There has to be a sort of protection that protects the ideas of others. I would hate it if I came up with a great idea just to have it copied and used by someone else.
