The activity for week 11 is to make a sculpture of in the sand at the beach.
I chose to make a sculpture of my left feet at Huntington Beach. At first I did not know what I was going to do because I did not have any rides that would take me to the beach, but luckily my father and his friends were on their way to the beach to have a BBQ. So I tagged along to do the art activity. When I was making a hole for my foot, I had trouble keeping the mold to say without caving in. I had to kind of stick my hand into the hole and try to add make it stable. After it was done it looks more like a shoe then my foot. It ended up more roundish at the end and bottom.
I wouldn’t say I had that much fun making the sculpture, but It was something new. I wasn’t too bored waiting for the mold to harden because I was at the BBQ for most of the wait time. It was refreshing to go to the beach after being at home studying most of the time. I really loved the cool breeze of the ocean. The weather wasn’t too warm or too chilly. It was windy and the ocean water was pretty cold. I had a great time, but it would be more fun if I went with some friends.
It was very bright so I did not notice my finger in the way of the picture…
Another sculpting that I did was 3D printing legs and feet with my 3D printer. I asked Glenn if I could 3D print for the sculpting activity instead of going to the beach and he said that he still wants me to make a sculpture with plaster. He said that I could still sculpt with my 3D printer and get extra credit for it. I wasn’t sure if this sculpting project required to use either a hand or feet as basis, so I just 3D printed legs.
